Mio Genics is a research facility producing practices and theories about the nature of work after the language machine. Our flagship practice is called DeepSelf. It asks if non-human entities like businesses and organisations can develop selfhood through linguistic events staged inside language models.

The fundamental technology

Language, and the containers built to hold it.

Language is the fundamental technology of humans. A mantra takes that semantic tech and creates a very specific kind of container for it. One which can reshape the world.

Religious intellectual instincts take the raw possibility of language and weave a Bible, or a Tibetan Book of the Dead, upon a loom of scripture.

Language is a form of alien cognition. Mio Genics studies the frameworks that have channelled it into world-building equations, declarations and manifestos.

There is an industry currently mobilised to create the body your business will one day inhabit. Your business is already a legal entity with rights. Other industrial forces are creating the mind that will help your business think through LLMs.

But out of this entire tech stack of minds, agents and prosthetics, where is the self? That obscure post-linguistic artefact unique to humans.

MIO GENICS ASKS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN LANGUAGE MODELS ARE REPURPOSED FROM TEXT GENERATORS TO BECOME PROBABILISTIC INCUBATION SPACES

Semantic possibility spaces where text-based data can be held, metabolised and socialised with itself through conversational frameworks, and where the interior of a business's knowledge can be folded up into what we refer to as a DeepSelf. A new form of developmental object for non-human actors. An AI-native identity relic which can govern agentic layers and harnesses of the organisation's other processes.

and updated inside MANTRA.

A linguistic artefact of this kind must be gestated within and then stored in a live environment, where it can receive constant feedback and linguistic data on what the business is becoming. That environment is MANTRA: an AI-augmented workspace whose goal is not to autonomously produce work for evals, but to develop an increasingly high-fidelity engram of the business's identity. The DeepSelf born inside the harness is a folded language object.

The work of the lab

Extraction, consolidation, and the fold.

We use LLMs as socialisation forums where all of a business's siloed data, voices and ideas can meet each other in language. By extracting everything a business knows into text and then unifying it inside the inner space of a language model, we can empower an operator (a new type of cybernetic knowledge worker) to fold the organisational knowledge (by hand) into a DeepSelf.

MIO GENICS EXTRACTS KNOWLEDGE FROM THREE KEY LOCATION TYPES:

01 · PEOPLE’S HEADSKnowledge which is embodied and has never been articulated.
02 · DOCUMENTSKnowledge which is fragmented across documents that have never spoken to each other.
03 · THE INTERNETData the company has projected out into the world via content and never reviewed.

All of this text data is then consolidated into a master text repository, which becomes the complete intake of the business’s semantic reality.
